I Warned You Bad Omen Gods ...... You WILL NOT Win!!!

Well the auction finally happened Tuesday Night (November 1st). I got there for preview and O&R had cut the power in hopes to restore it to the rest of the road... WHAT???????? No Power!?!?!?!? What did I  do?? I called my daddy...AHAHAHA!! Help!! No Power At Conference Center!! I couldn't even get out full sentences I was so flustered!
We rented a generator, my dad borrowed one from work & called in some favors from some old friends and we pulled it off. We ran the sale by spotlight on 2 generators and a lot of extension cords!!

I need to stop and thank my wonderful group of friends and family!! My mom and dad did more than their share to help pull this off! Special thanks to my mom for working extra hours at work so we could hold the auction at the Conference Center. None of us have put a full day of work in in a week, so thanks to our employers for being so understanding. My Aunt Annie and Uncle Mickey were there EVERY day from set up to clean up (Wednesday morning) and were a HUGE help- they also helped to haul all the goods over to the Chapel for set up & ran the kitchen the entire night of the auction. Jeanette Nauwens was there for set up to clean up as well, and thank god for her organizing during the sale, even with no power it went as smooth as any other "Jenack" sale! Thanks to Bill & Andi Jenack for offering their services (and showing up 2 different days to do it) and also for posting an ad in the Record for us to try to get more advertising. Thank you to Mark Williamson for saving the day and helping my dad all night with the lights and generators & for the trips he made with his truck to get items to the Chapel on set up day. Thanks to Donna and Kevin Powers for coming through with the lights and extension cords that lit the night and all the items they gave to be donated. Thank you to Tara Kruger & Roberta Beany for getting donations from friends & relatives, for selling raffle tickets....Tara was the one who sold the winning ticket and for working the sale. Thank you to all my wonderful friends who volunteered to work the sale, it was so smooth thanks to all of you. Thank you to my beautiful daughters Kaelyn & Maddie who worked their butts off in the kitchen (how come they don't do that at home??). Thanks to my husband Brian for being "sold" (he brought in $150 thank you very much!!!) and for putting up with my .. lets say lack of housework the last few weeks while I have been consumed with this auction!!!! Thanks to Diane & Pat Connolly, Jamie Connolly & Jen Weiss for putting in the work on the "family side" of things- it turned out amazing.

Thank you to all who donated money, made baked goods, sold raffle tickets (even our UPS man at the auction gallery sold tickets on his route for us!!!), passed the word along about the auction, donated items to be auctioned off, volunteered their time in any way possible, attended the auction, and just showed support by being involved.

Together, we all made this a huge sucess, and as my very-pregnant sister puts it
"WE RAISED A SH*T LOAD OF MONEY"!!!!!

More Donations From Local Businesses- THANK YOU!!!!

Donations are really pouring in now!!! With only 4 days left until the BIG DAY things are really getting down to the wire. On Auctionzip.com alone there has been over 2,700 views!!!! That is amazing! We have donations coming in from everywhere & anyone you can think of...it really is incredible to see all the love & support friends, family, and a community have for one family...and to think most people who have donated have never even met Vaughn or his family. Just random, ordinary people who want to help out in their own little way. See what a difference people can make in somebody else's life just by donating money, or buying a $5 raffle ticket or baking a pie or donating something they had layIng around in their attic. I love it.

Here's a list of some more donations made by local businesses:
  • GIFT CERTIFICATE FROM SWEET CHEEK FACES FACE PAINTING- GOOD FOR 1 PARTY
  • $50 GC TO WARWICK NAILS
  • $50 GC TO SUN INDULGENCE
  • GC FOR 3 OIL CHANGES & TIRE ROTATION TO LEO KAYTES
  • GC FOR CHARLOTTES TEA ROOM
  • (3) 1 MONTH GC'S TO SPORTS FITNESS & FUN

Big Thank You #3 And #4

A big Thank You goes out to Jen at Jen's Cookies Cakes and More in Warwick. She is graciously donating numerous amounts of goodies for the bake sale & baskets full of baked goods for the auction. Mmmmm....Chocolate Double Layer Cake...yes please!
Visit her website here: http://www.jenscookiescakes.com/

Jen sells her tasty treats to the local Warwick ShopRite. When she talked to managers there about the auction & asked if there was anything they could do to help, she asked if they would be willing to help cater some of the food that would be sold for lunch at the auction. They immediately offered up "as many sandwiches as you need" & cases of water.

How much do you just love local businesses stepping up to help out a family in need???
Makes you want to run right out and buy that delicious cake from Jen or make ShopRite your designated grocery store, doesn't it????

Thank you very much to Jen for her donations & for taking it upon herself to ask ShopRite if they would help and of course, thank you to Warwick ShopRite for their generous donation.

WOOT! WOOT! GUESS WHO WAS ON THE RADIO!!!

This morning my sister Robyn & her friend Denise from Guys Gals & Gadgets consignment store made guests appearances on 1340 AM Wall Radio. Both were there to talk about the upcoming events that are being held in honor of Vaughn. Denise first heard about the benefit auction we are holding through Robyn- it touched her heart so much that she decided to put together a 2 day tag sale, which also includes a bake sale & raffle tickets for gift certificates from local vendors. 100% of proceeds from the bake sale & 25% of proceeds from the tag sale will go directly to the Ziegler family. How incredibly thoughtful is that?

Information will also be posted on the radio stations website so check it out:
Robyn did an amazing job telling Vaughn's story & explaing how people get can involved. She should be very proud of all the hard work she is doing in getting the word out, getting donations (even taking time to go pick items up herself from people's homes or businesses), posting items to auctionzip.com, getting t-shirts made, selling raffle tickets, asking people to make baked goods, getting people to donate their time for the auction and advertising on Craigslist, The Warwick CommonPlace, The Warwick Advertiser, Auctionzip.com and even this blog.
On a little side note....I am 7 months pregnant with twins & live in CT- I was supposed to be doing all of this with Robyn but doctors orders prohibit me from traveling more than 20+ minutes away. Why am I telling you this? Because I am not able to make it to the auction or help out these upcoming weekends with set up, organizing donated items, baking, etc ...and so Robyn has really taken this whole endeavor on herself (with a huge help from my mom & a few other friends) and is determined to make this an amazing event. So I want to personally, formally & publicly say THANK YOU to Robyn for all her hard work. You are doing a great job!!! And you sounded awesome on the radio. You deserve a huge pat on the back!!!!!

FYI

Just wanted to give some background info: Vaughn's mom...Susan Connolly Ziegler was a 1993 graduate of Warwick Valley High School & was a long time resident of Warwick, NY. She grew up in a tight nit neighborhood in Bellvale where her parents still live. One of her brothers, Jamie, with his family, also still lives in Warwick.

Sometimes personally knowing who a benefit is being held for makes all the difference in the world.
Did you happen to go to school with Sue? I did. And we've been friends since we both started at Kings Elementary School some 30 years ago. Sue is kind hearted, artistic (she used to always draw girls on horses when we were little), super smart, loving & just fun. My heart goes out to her & her family and I really hope this benefit for Vaughn, her little pride & joy, helps take some of the burden off her shoulders.

Please pass the word along about this wonderful event. And mention Sue's name...I'm sure you will find a lot of people say "ohhh yeah..I remember her!"...or "yeah, I know Sue's brother"...

Thanks for all the support.

-Amy
